Brady,
On each post, the person who made the post should see an Edit button and a Delete button in the bottom right hand corner of the post. You will have to be logged on to see the buttons. Please let me know if you don't see the buttons on your postings.

Hi Tim,
I do see that button.I was just wondering if there was a way to delete it all together.But since that is the only way I'll just do that.Thanks Tim for your input.

I wanted to delete my post re: Help ID Great Britain Stamp #2 because I received a fast response to my question and the post was no longer required. Looking for a way to delete I found this topic. I deleted my post, but Steve's answer was still there. Is there a way to delete the entire topic? Like others I do not want to take up space in the system.

One member cannot delete or edit the posts/responses of another member. You would have to ask a moderator to delete the entire post, but usually if there has been a discussion involved, they may be hesitant to delete the entire thread. The information in the post could be helpful to others who may have the same question or want to learn more about the subject.

I agree with Michael; I learn a lot from older identification posts. Let the moderators determine if storage space is an issue.

It is not storage space that determines whether a post is deleted or not. Usually only posts in the Classified area are deleted because they are no longer necessary, or have gone beyond a 60 day period (pursuant to DB rules). Occasionally, when a member deletes a post which makes the ensuing responses meaningless, the entire thread may be deleted.
Other than those instances, moderators will only delete entire threads for extraordinary reasons. Unless a post contains obscene or offensive language, or violates a specific rule, the post will left intact. Even in the forgoing circumstances, if it is possible to delete just a portion of a post, and the remainder retains merit, that will be done.
No moderator is going to censor or selectively delete portions of a post because he/she has a personal animus toward it. If you notice a post has been modified, and you do not understand why, please ask!
Mel, I will look at your post, and if it has become meaningless, I will delete the thread.

I agree with Michael Identification type of posts should not be deleted. If someone else has the same issue and sees your question, they can then scroll down and see the answer. By leaving both Questions and Answers plus relevant discussion is what make the forum a learning tool for all members.
