Being one of the 237 who joined in 2011, I want to say that I have filled some gaping holes in my collection from the auctions, visited the site several times a day, and enjoyed the discussion board and communicating with my new philatelic friends. The gang who runs this site does a great job with it. The changes have been wonderful, making this site so much better to use from just the short time that I have been here.
Happy 2012 to everyone! May the new year be grand for everyone and Stamporama too!
Tim,
Thank you for the wonderful wizardry that made and continues to make Stamporama a great online community. All the best in 2012 to all our members.

I would just like to thank everyone involved with Stamporama for the very special experience of being part of this group. I feel that i've been a member of SOR from it's early days and really rediscovered my love of stamp collecting almost entirely through my affiliation with Stamporama. No question ever goes unanswered. The opportunities to bid and fill the gaping holes in my collection seem to have just exploded over the last year.
The economy may be in ruins but stamp collecting remains robust!
I feel I have made some great friends within the club and look forward to another exciting year of collecting and connecting.
I appreciate everyone who continues to make this club such a pleasure and a great resource.
All the Best to everyone for the New Year.
Chris
I was another of the 237 who joined this year. I've been part of a LOT of stamp groups and communities in my 20-odd years on the web, and this is not only one of the friendliest and most welcoming groups of collectors I have encountered... the web site itself is one of the easiest to use and navigate around.
Thanks to Tim and all the hardworking volunteers who make StampoRama possible!

I too was one of the 237 in 2011 that joined Stamporama. I just want to say thanks to all the members who helped me out this year. Returning to the hobby after taking nearly a 30 year break I quickly realized there is a lot I don't know about stamp collecting. Hopefully in the future with the knowledge I gain I too can help out a new or returning collector.
I also want to thank the folks that posted reasonably priced stamps in the autions allowing me to build my collection and interest in the hobby. I am looking forward to 2012. This club and the website is the best bar none.
I have just joined the group and will be part of the growth in 2012. I have been storing my collections for 10 years and now think i will have time to work on it more and look forward to any help I will need from the site.
Welcome back to the hobby!!!
Well, I have to make a retraction. I said in a reply above that I was one of the group that joined here in 2011. I just found out that I actually joined in 2010! Man, how time flies!!! It doesn't seem like I've been on here that long.
Hi Everyone,
Today is the first day of 2012. It is a perfect time to look back over what happened in Stamporama in 2011 and for me to share a few statists with you.
The major update for the year was the rewrite of the Discussion Board. Implemented in the middle of the year, the new Stamporama Discussion Board now has the same look and feel as the rest of the website and has the discussion board security fully integrated with the central security that controls all things on the website. The rewrite has solved a number of functional issue that caused new members problems, for example the ability to easily upload images and place them at any position within the message posting that the message poster would like. The ease of formatting the messaging posting has also been received very well by our members. Since the new Discussion Board was implemented mid-year it has received 175,121 message views.
The Stamporama membership continues to grow at a fairly constant rate with 237 new members join in 2011. Welcome to all our new members and thank you for getting in and actively participating in the Discussion Board and the Auction.
The Stamporama Auction had a record year with 78,504 lots being posted during 2011. The peak number of current lots posted at any one time exceed 4000 several times and can regularly be seen over 3000. This is incredible growth seeing as when we implemented the new Auction a few years ago there was only about 250 lots in the auction at the time.
The general website usage across 2011 has continued to grow steadily over 2011. I have mentioned a few times in similar postings that I used to have a person goal for Stamporama usage to achieve an average 1000 unique visits each day. As you can see in the usage statistics posted below, we exceed that goal on a regular basis now.
So that brings me to the end of my statistical review of 2011. It is wonderful to have so many great friends here on Stamporama. I love the discussions and the increasing opportunity to bid on interesting stamps in the Auction.
Keep on stamping in 2012.
Regards ... Tim
Stamporama Webmaster.
