Like Tim, I applaud Roy and Debbie for their generosity. And, like Tim, I can attest to the fabulous offerings at BuckACover. I usually make several forays there yearly and often obtain covers at great prices. They always package their material with great philatelic care.
I also appreciate having had the opportunity to work closely with Roy when he was the President of SOR. He's an innovative thinker; SOR's electronic presence is in no small part owing to Roy's vision.
And, thanks Tim for making the switch and working with Roy.
SOR is blessed with interesting characters who are generous with their time and expertise.

Hi
Thanks very much Roy for everything.also to Tim and David for all their hard work.

I have not found a better website for stamp collecting than Stamporama. Everything about it is great.
Thanks to Roy for his generosity and having the vision to make Stamporama a reality and thanks to Tim for all the work he has done on the site since taking over as webmaster.
I would also like to thank Allen Bohart for taking over as webmaster when Roy stepped down. I know Allen was working and going to school during his tenure. He was always helpful when I posted an error in one of my auction listings.
Actually, everyone who volunteers their time to keep this site running deserves a big thank you.
Bob
Thanks, Roy and thanks for offering so many great covers. I've enjoyed visiting your sites!
Bruce
I'd like to add my sincere thanks as well.
Mr. Lingen is not aware of it, but in a way he was instrumental in my decision to start a local stamp club in my town.
Because of my returning to stamp collecting after 20+ years and therefore looking for some type of buying/selling/trading forum on the internet, I found SOR back in '06...and found a "family."
And, after reading in the discussions of numerous SOR members who had their own local clubs, I got the idea to start our local club here.
Sooooo, Roy - for something you had no idea you encouraged me to do, I thank you.
And also, a heart-felt thank you to you, Tim Auld, for looking out for our club as a whole and keeping us moving along technologically....
...a sincere bow of gratitude to you both.
Respectfully,
Randy
Thank you very much! Glad I found this web site a few months back. It has been enjoyable being here.

*Many thanks to Tim as well
Thank you all for the kind words. It has been my pleasure to provide the webhosting for Stamporama ever since we went online in a serious way back around 2001 (has it really been that long?)
For most of the time, Stamporama was actually on one of my servers, but unfortunately, after I relinquished the position of Webmaster due to the increase in my own business and the time demands, my successor, Allen, put an untested script on the site that was promptly hijacked by spammers. They used the script to send out millions of spam emails and it got all the accounts on the server blacklisted by Spam filtering agencies. So a half dozen of my other clients couldn't send any emails that weren't bounced back. The only solution was to move all the accounts to a new server -- ouch!
I don't blame Allen. It was an honest mistake, but at the time I determined that I couldn't afford to do this again and vowed that any scripts on one of my servers would have to be my responsibility. However, I couldn't leave Stamporama hanging, so I agreed to pick up the tab for a monthly hosting account.
Now Stamporama has outgrown sharing a server with umteen dozens of other domains. I booked a new server this weekend, and Tim will shortly be moving the site over. Stamporama will have almost 100% of the computing resources of this server. I will get some use out of it too -- I'll move all my "static" non-dynamic and low-load sites over to it, freeing up domains on my other server. It's a win-win situation and I can hardly wait to see what Tim wants to do next!

Roy - I'm lost for words. Your generosity is overwhelming to me. Stamporama members reap the benefits while you and Debbie pick up the tab. This seems so unfair to me and wish there was a way that we could reimburse you for at least the monthly server fees
The generosity of our webmaster Tim is unbelievable. He puts endless unpaid hours into programming and troubleshooting support for our Stamporama website.
How can we as members of Stamporama ever repay any of you plus the other volunteers for the endless hours and out of pocket expenses that come with providing such a great service to our members? The volunteers come under a lot of criticism at times, but we do try to make Stamporama a pleasant, respected club for other collectors to enjoy.
It seems like it's been longer than 10 years since I joined Stamporama. There's been a lot of positive changes to the website since then.

Since the first day I joined as a member, I have had nothing but a great experience with your site and the auctions. Thank you for keeping it going.

I agree, nothing but good things to say about this place in cyberdom. I applaud everyone and anyone who contributes to the this site. Its nice to be able to buy and sell here.
Of all the stamp web sites I've visited, SOR is by far the easiest-to-use with the friendliest folks. Thanks to all who make it so.
ROY,
I want to add my accolade to all the others on the great job that you have done, and are doing for SOR.
I am just sorry that I cannot be more active here, but at 88 my time here is limited as I tire easily, and sleep a lot, when I should be working with my stamps and postcards.
Good luck on all your future endeavors.

I've often praised the volunteers who run this site but I have to agree that the guy behind the scenes who finances this beast is definitely one who deserves a standing ovation from us. Having run my own web server out of my home, I can certainly attest that what he is doing for us is no small thing financially. When we started seeing the "Too many connections" error, I knew that it was going to be an issue where our benefactor was going to have to throw more money at it, and I cringed as that kind of “money throwing” can often lead to a free system turning into a pay system. So when I hear that he is gladly continuing to finance it out of his own pocket, I just smile and think what a wonderful person this guy really is.
From an old retired website-hoster to another, you have my heart-felt thanks for what you do for us.
Pat
Thank you so much for this site. I have found it to be very helpful in selling my duplicates. There are so many great folks on here from all over the world.
Again, thanks a lot!!

Many many thanks to Roy & Debbie. This site is a lifeline to me during the winter months in Ontario. I have met fellow collectors who have become great online friends. The site provides awesome opportunities to trade ,buy ,sell etc.., and meet great people from around the world. You are greatly appreciated.

Dear Roy,
You do us all proud. Jerry Abern must smile upon you each and every day. You have helped to make his dream a reality, and that is a good and noble thing. You have given, and continue to give, much. You have improved the quality of the day. May we all be able to do that in some small measure as well. You have set the bar high.
With respect,
Dan C.
Dan, thank you so much for the sentiments. Taking me back to the days of Jerry, you actually managed to choke me up. Puts it all into perspective and makes it all worthwhile.
Roy
Hi Everyone,
For quite a while now we have been experiencing contention problems with the other websites on the server that we share. Many people have reported to me the problems that they have been having with the "Too Many Connections" error message when trying to do almost anything on the website. This problem has got to the point where I have been looking for server upgrade alternates.
Our current server is paid for by Roy Lingen of BuckaCover.com. For the benefit of our new members, Roy has a long standing history with Stamporama. He was the president of the club for a number of years and was the original webmaster who got the website up and going. I talked to Roy about the problems that we had been experiencing and said that I wanted to look at upgrade alternatives. Roy was already way ahead of me having noticed the problem himself and was already looking into alternates.
To cut a lengthy technical discussion short, Roy has volunteered to purchase a dedicated webserver for Stamporama's use. This means that we will be the only user of the web and database resources and the connection problems that we have all been experiencing will go away. I started working with the new server last night. This new server will meet our needs very effectively for a long time to come.
Please join me in thanking Roy for his long term support for Stamporama and his current generosity in purchasing this dedicated server for our use.
Please visit Roy and Deb at their Buckacover.com website. Roy provides a great service for cover collectors and a great buy can often be found on his website. I have purchased many covers from him myself.
Regards ... Tim.
