I'm using the USPS Catalogue and the H.E. Harris Catalogue. They each list FOUR 29c tulip stamps, Scott 2524, 2525, 2526 and 2527. But my H.E. Harris album has an 'extra' tulip stamp. This one is listed as perf. 12 1/2. What's the Scott number for this one, and is it one of those very rare stamps?

re: Need Help With Tulip Stamp

Hi Fred,

Using my 2010 Harris and 2007 Scott I find the following -
2524 (both catalogues)perf 11 (in Scott, ? in Harris)
2524A (both catalogues)perf 13 x 12 3/4 in Scott and perf 13 in Harris,
2525 (both catalogues)coil roulette perf 10
2526 (both catalogues)coil perf 10
2527 (both catalogues)booklet single perf 11

Used prices for 2524 and 2524A are 20c in Scott and 20c and 25c in Harris. Mint 2524 is 60c in Scott and $1.00 in Harris while 2524A is 80c in Scott and $1.20 in Harris.

Jacques.

Scott #2524A is for the perf 13 x 12-3/4 photo. of the tulip stamp. The catalogue value is only 20c so it cannot be very 'rare'.

Perhaps someone who collects USA stamps can enlighten you as to what the difference is between #2524 (Perf. 11) and the #2524A (perf. 13 x 12-3/4) if there is a difference other than the perforation.

Thanks, Liz and Jacques for your help. My USPS and H.E. Harris catalogues show the same as yours(I've a copy of 2524a). The discrepancy, and my consternation, is in H.E. Harris's album showing a nice, red tulip with the inscription "PERF 12 1/2". So my question is: Is there such a thing?
