Richaard,
This is an excellent article. It can be found in the Stamporama Articles area by just looking though the list of articles or you can find it by entering "autograph" in the search function. In Google, I found it very easily searching on "Autographs on stamps". It pops up almost at the top of the search results. In fact all of the Stamporama articles show up very high in the Google search results.

Regarding my Autograph Collection,
This is what I collect, and have been doing it since 1950.
Article written up in the American Philatelist, the journal for the
APS (American Philatelic Society) in October 2003.
Since article came out, I have added Catherine Deneuve, Elton John,
Jimmy Carter, Princess Caroline of Monaco,
and Miss World 1970-71, Jennifer Hosten of Grenada, President Ford,
Shirley Temple Black, Barack Obama
Now a days, it is quite difficult to get anything signed to order. They usually just send a signed picture to any request. and keep what you send to them. In fact, they never even see the item, as it just goes to the marketing department.
I have sent out in the last year, about 20 items, with not even a reply.
Unless you can obtain their personal address, or know someone that knows the person, forget it.

Awwww, I loved that. How fun, and what a great way to enhance stamp collecting. I get the covers of my vinyl records autographed when possible. The best one for me was about 2 years ago when I met Kim Novak at a watercolor workshop where I was cooking, and she autographed my "Pal Joey" album, and gave me a $50.00 tip, plus a nice note.I loved your stories,
sure wish there were books about such things to read and collect!
A friend of mine has attended a few stamp launches in Vancouver, where he obtained First Day Covers and then got postal officials, VIPs, and stamp and cover designers to autograph the covers. In one case, the 2006 Vancouver Aquarium commemorative, he got the autograph of young woman who, as a young girl, posed for the image that ended up on the stamp:
Bob
There are many new members on Stamporama who may never have seen my world famous autograph collection of "Autographs Across Stamps"
