Looks like your example fits in the timeline for type 2, number 4 Doane cancel from Crescent Beach.

thanks so much for that, Antonio. Now I'll need to start a collection of Doanes.
Ok, now this is interesting.
David, I don't want to hijack your listing. If this should be moved please let me know.
Antonio, I had never heard of Doane's cancels. Love learning new things here. When I clicked on the link you provided, I looked at this list of known cancels for Florida. Orange Park (my town) is not listed but there is one available right now on eBay.
Is this a new discovery???

David, I have a small collection from Minnesota, since I collect Minnesota postal history.
Gary Anderson has maintained a master list of Doane cancels reported by state for many years.
His website is here....

For those interested in physical (paper) literature, one sources is UNITED STATES DOANES: A Catalog of Doane Cancellations Used in the United States Post Offices, edited by Richard W. Helbock, 1993.
This had additional background and discussion on the Doane Cancels. The website has the most recent information on where and when they were used.
Richard was the original creator and editor of the LaPosta Journal, which is by far the premier publication oriented to United States postal history. It is currently edited and published by Peter Martin. The La Postal website has a complete collection of the first 40 years of the publication available online.

and the plot thickens!
I sent the image of the Orange Park, FL cancel to the folks that run the website that Antonio referenced.
Ms. Deane Briggs responded with the following, "We do not have any Doanes listed from Orange Park, FL and this looks like a later 4-bar use and not a Doane. Thanks for sharing this with me. Deane"
So even though the eBay listing specifically listed this as a Doane, and it looks like one to me, she says it is not one. Case Closed. Dang. I thought I was actually part of new discovery.
It is also 5 bar not 4.
forwarded cover with 3 distinct Doanes and 3 other distinct cancels on a cover sent locally to Crescent Beach and forwarded to Hartford.

FaceBook post on Crescent Beach country club (then part of Burlington). Burlington then had a population of 1,200, so no idea how few might be in the town that seems to be mostly a private country club: https://www.facebook.com/groups/50228060 ...
