Used stamps from Italy featuring the 25 centesimi Hitler/Mussolini stamp as a "bisect" are generally considered philatelic forgeries or manipulations rather than legitimate postal usage. There is no official or widely recognized legitimate usage of this specific stamp in a bisected form for postage in Italy or any of its territories.
Stamps marketed as "bisects" for this issue are likely unofficial creations intended for collectors, with faked cancellations or covers. Philatelic sources and catalogs do not list this stamp as having a legitimate bisect usage.
Resource: I had a couple of those envelopes and kept the information I once extracted from Linn's Stamp News Magazine. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
thanks, Rodolpho,
this was in a dollar box; who knows how it came to be there. the torn stamp made me think it wasn't an intentional fake, but who knows ..... maybe that's what they wanted me to think
So, no Maserati for me today
I have a front-only piece with a 25c Hitler/Mussolini "bisect". Anyone know if this might be real? is the local Bologna rate 12.5c or something similar? any other explanations.
The cancel properly ties it; i suppose it might be possible to tear the stamp in the automation process........
