I first thought the above stamps were a double vertical pair of Scott (Unitrade) 604vi. This variable excluded a scoreline horizontally between the pairs. When I blew this up to post in my store, there clearly is a very faint scoreline. In looking further for examples of 604iv online I have seen a few examples like mine (photos not clear enough to see any scoreline), but ID'd s 604a (Imperf, horizon. pair). There are other examples of 604a which are imperforate all around. Both can't be correct, and CV is quite a bit different. Any thoughts?

In order to be 604vi there must be absolutely no trace of a score line. I fell into that trap once myself!! All you have are two pairs of unseparated coils with very little actual value beyond the price of two pairs of coils - maybe a little bit more! Sorry John. Some E-Bay sellers are very good at passing these off as partially imperforate!

I'm pretty sure I'm right but why not wait for a second opinion - I've been wrong before and I will probably be wrong again!!! I'm sure that you shouldn't be sure about anything!! Big Grin

Do you know what differentiates the 604vi from the 604a? Just isn't clear to me looking at UNitrade.

One is imperf. vertically (vi no score line) the other is horizontal (a) - I think!!! 604a is much more expensive!

A further clarification (maybe) to the above comments: 604a in essence is a "traditional" horizontal imperforate pair, in other words imperforate on all four sides, proved by being imperforate also vertically.
