the oval cancel leads me to think that this is intentionally a mute cancel, the kind one see in a registration or some third class mail, and as such no dates would be expected with it.
In Armstong's book for page 216 for "chapter: Offices in Shanghai China" I found the same cancel and it had a date in the oval cancel!
So there is missing cancel information as I stated!
I ran the image thru ImageSeluth, but I ended up with more questions. There was marks inside the oval, but really this could be just stray marks.

said to be Scott number 406, but it is not a 406
Does anyone know the dates of this cancel when it was first used and when it was not used anymore?
This canx is not complete as no date info can be read
The SIN number is A139, the SIN number for a Scott number 406 is A140 as such misidentified!
It appears to be perfed 12 X 12, but this is based on the perf tips only, would have to have in person to measure it for sure
this is a flat press printed stamp.
