The main fault is a poor image, and then only showing the face of the stamp, not the back. There are numbed perf teeth all around, poor centring, stains, and an unattractive cancel. Personally, I would not buy it. I’d rather have an empty space in my album than an ugly
filler.
In my world, US #72 can be expensive for a good quality copy -
therefore I would definitely consider purchasing this stamp as a space filler for the time being.
Many collectors are on tight budgets and a filled spot on their page looks better than an empty one.
I would look harder/longer. I rarely will buy a stamp with obvious defects. I did buy a S.72 four years ago with a torn corner that did not impinge on the design for $32. I think it has eye appeal even with the obvious defect but the image you posted, not so much ...

It's a good price for a space filler so if I didn't have a copy I'd probably go for it. You could probably get your money back later when a better copy comes your way.
Thanks to everyone who has responded!
I have decided to make the seller a fair offer, especially with all those faults!!!
I will update you all on what happens next...

Just found this site for US stamp values. All you have to do is enter the US Scott number at the bottom.
https://stampcollectors.us/stamp-values/
I would make a counter offer!

Here's my set containing #72, I think I've shown it before. I have two more varieties since this picture was taken - 70d and 78a. This page, IMHO, is complete since several of the stamps are now considered to be assays or trial colours. Lots of time was needed to complete what is here!! Some I got here, some from my local dealer and a couple from other online sites. My #72 is at the end of the third row. Prices quoted are catalogue values, thankfully not what I paid!

Note the three nice SF cogwheel cancels on 69, 71 and 78 and a double bullseye on 76.
Always good to see you stamps Joe!
Good #72!

Is $23 a good price for a #72?
Sounds silly?
I think there may be faults, and I will probably (Maybe) buy this anyway, but besides the pinhole, are there any other faults?!

P.S. My first better US stamp purchase (sorta) I have other better stamps (more than this CV...), but these were already in the US album when I got it...
