. At first I didn't think so, but want some other opinions. Thanks in advance.Sorry, looks regummed to me!
No need to be sorry....more important to get it right.

I'm not seeing any of the small loose threads you normally see when perforations are separated. There also seems to be a deposit of excess gum around the edge of the stamp. I checked Unitrade to make sure this wasn't one of the very few stamps where the gum was put on after the perfs were done. There was at least one Newfoundland stamp where this happened but I don't know if this ever happened with Canada's stamps! Does anyone else know?

Most definitely regummed, and pretty sure it's reperfed at left as well.

Thanks Folks. Obviously not good news to a seller, but the due diligence is mandatory if in doubt. In true MNH condition it would be a pretty pricey stamp.
Last follow up question......how much do these things (including re-perfing the one side) reduce value. Obviously, very subjective, but if you have a thought, please share it.
Thanks again.
I only buy used so I have no idea how you guys can tell. What are the tell-tale signs? As I'm looking at it, I don't see ANY gum.
I'm wondering why it was re-perfed. Was it done to get rid of some cancellation ink? It is definitely shifted left so the the perfs may be smooth just from handling. Is it a MH stamp where the hinge was soaked off and then re-gummed? It's hard to say.
Joe....can't tell if there was a hinge originally. Looks pretty clean...actually a nice job of re-gumming. I'll put it under Image Sleuth and see.
Just did that and still I cannot tell.
My guess reduce it by 75%, but only a guess
It's interesting what you run into. Turning it from whatever it was into MNH status raises the value but given that it is off center, I would think that it was a lot of work for little reward. It's fun, though, to figure these things out.
bigcreekdad,
Only because you asked if I were selling it I would probably soak it to remove the gum - I have had little success selling stamps as disturbed gum or regum (big question is always "is the regum acidic?") Not sure what the trace markings under the right hand 20 are/
I would probably price it at 15 per cent of catalog if I wanted to sell it, 20 per cent if I might want to add it to my collection if it didn't sell.
That's just me - I'm just trying to get decent stamps into the hands of someone who will appreciate them. How I live doesn't depend on whether I make 5 cents or 10 cents an hour - playing with stamps is fun.
Web I appreciate the response. I'm only trying to set a price so it doesn't sit. I'm retired and am doing this to take up dead time, and having been an on/off collector for over 60 years, I find it fun. I'm not saying I don't want to make a profit....they allow you to acquire more nicer stamps to sell.
