It's a real problem. I get one or two fakes a week. They are produced by Chinese counterfeiters here on "work" or "student" visas. They sell them on E-Bay and use the proceeds to fund their dirt that they are doing here.
It exploded in 2021 and they are so prolific that Scott has come out with a new catalog to ID these things. I have my order in but the initial printing sold out and I'm still waiting.
At any rate, I can spot the fake definitives of 23-25 by looking at the 2's in the date. In the counterfeits, the 2's are tilted and the base lines point in odd directions. The dots that make up the baselines of the fakes are very indistinct. However, the 2's on the real stamps are straight and the USPS baselines are made up of either 2-3 or 4-5 distinct dots. If you have a booklet of flags, you can see this easily.
I hope that the book comes soon. I'm concerned as to how many fakes are in my album. I don't mind mailing you a fake so that you can see for yourself.
Thanks, but no
This post is not directly related to the original question, but within minutes of reading the discussion I saw in my online news feed an article about how to distinguish genuine from fake stamps of the UK. In case anyone here is interested, I am sharing the URL (I do not know how to activate it, sorry):

Sometimes I receive mail with forever stamps.
I just wonder what to look for counterfeit forever stamps.
Any help is appreciated!
