I never had the Link option work for me for the posting. I do not know if these link options work and same way or not.

The link tag does not work the same way in DM's as in the Discussion Board.
In the message, just paste the link, including the http:// or https:// part and when you "Preview" the message, you will see the link appear as a clickable link.
No need to click on a button or anything.
