I've always been under the assumption that plate blocks should have selvage on two sides. Lately, I've been seeing blocks of four (or more) stamps being offered with selvage on one side which include the plate block number. Should these be considered true plate blocks? Opinions???

Look at a full sheet online. I "think" some plate numbers were mid sheet with the zip and/or mail early being on the end but I could easily be wrong.

re: Plate Blocks and selvage

early plate blocks were not at the corners of a plate, but towards the center. But I don't recall any gummed plate blocks of pre-SA not having selvage on two sides of the corner-most stamp

You're correct... need to put my brain in gear. I was looking at a C5 plate block with plate number in top selvage. Thanks for the responses. D'Oh
