I research various series of revenue stamp cancels.

This example is from the Early Matching Period 1 Oct - 24 Dec 1862

Bank check for George Vickers dated 31 Oct 1862

The stamp is not tied to the document! I think it's important that the cancel is tied to the document (just my thinking)

This is R6c

How do you begin researching cancels?

See scan short back ground, this is usual place I start my researching on Wikipedia. and usually points me in more research areas to research.
