I suppose you mean the 1918 trident overprints that are distinguished after the place where the stamps were issued, like Kiyiv or Odessa, yekaterinoslav etc overprints? There used to be a very useful table in the Michel catalogue for Eastern Europe but it appears it had been moved to the Russia specialised catalogue.
I have used that to identify tridents from a large collection I bought many years ago with the intention to resell it again, which succeeded quite nicely. I was able to go on holiday from the profit I made on that collection. The best items in that collection were a number of the socalled Courier Field Post issues, which sold for obscene amounts!
Yup, that's the ones!!! I don't have the patience to do them, stamp collecting is fun for me and sorting these out is not my idea of fun!! But I'd really like to be able to mount them in my Minkus BOB if anyone wants to do the work for me - for a price, of course!!
will send you a PM
@Harvey
Let's, you might have one to determine the issues for pay.
You might have someone to mount them for pay.
I'll step up and offer for pay to look at them! (just kidding, no offense intended).
Got an offer already! It sure will be great to finally be able to deal with those stamps!!
I have between 100 and 200 Russian stamps with the trident overprint for the Ukraine. They would fit in my Minkus album if I had the patience to sort them out. The Album sorts the trident overprint by area of Ukraine and different areas had slightly different versions of the overprint. Sometimes it's just a slightly different size of trident, sometimes a different colour, sometimes a slightly different trident and sometimes a combination of these. There are not covered in Scott's but they are in Stanley Gibbons. I do not have the patience to sort through these, if my wife were still alive she would jump at the chance to do this!! My regular local dealer does some work for me but will not attempt these. If there is a serious Russia collector out there who would be willing to do this for me please get in touch!!! I will offer you whatever hourly rate you deem fair plus you can keep any doubles that might be there. This is not a joke, I am serious! Please do not do this unless you really know what you are doing. You would either need the SG catalog or copies of the Minkus pages plus a great deal of patience. Is anyone interested??
