SG: Yes. #345a "stop instead of colon" 2 pounds mint and used (SG South America Part 20 1980 edition)
vs. 90p for 345 mint and used.
Either they have different information on the frequency of occurrence, or it is hideously undervalued in this catalogue.

Thank you very much, Roy, for the SG reference. Yes, I am also surprised at the valuation. The only reference that I have for the quantity was from Sanabria stating the printed quantity was 30,000 stamps in sheets of 100 (10x10), and the Michel note which stated the occurrence was "einmal im Bogen", which would be once per sheet. I suppose that demand is what holds the valuation so low. The 1966 valuation shown in Sanabria was $1.50 for the normal stamp and $5.00 for the variety.
While remounting my Paraguay airpost collection on newly created pages, I discovered that I may be missing the first airmail stamp (Scott C1). The 1913 Official stamps (5c, 10c and 30c) were overprinted/surcharged in January 1929 for airpost usage. The overprint re-valuation is expressed with a colon instead of a decimal ($ 2:85). However, there is one stamp in each sheet of the 5c Official overprint that has a period instead of a colon! Scott does not list this variety, however, it is listed as Paraguay #1a in the 1966 Sanabria World Airmail Catalog. I have the 2015 Michel catalog and this variety is also listed in the notes after Paraguay #305. The catalogs state that there were 30,000 of the 5c Official stamps overprinted for airpost usage. Since these stamps were printed in sheets of 100, that means that only 300 of this variety were printed! I would be interested to learn if Stanley Gibbons mentions this variety.
The stamp that I have appears to have the upper dot of the colon ghost shadowed in the color of the stamp itself. There is no black for that dot. I tried to get a good close-up scan for examination. Is this the variety mentioned in the catalogs?
Since it turns out that what I thought was Scott #C1 in my collection may actually be this variety, I am in need of a mint copy of Paraguay Scott #C1 to round out my collection... anyone have that for sale?
