Hi,
This "AED" mark was applied in Paris and is an abbreviation for
Affranchissement Etranger Destination
i.e. foreign franking to destination
A few similar "AED" marks were applied in other French towns to post received from abroad.
Excellent. Thanks.
Mailed from Frankfurt am Main on December 16, 1840, to Paris, France. The normal T and T two ring cancellation with full date and the transit to France mark indicating entry through Forbach. The P. P. stamp abbreviates "Port Payee" meaning paid at originating post office.
I do not know what the "A. E. D." mark means. Do you?
