I found a couple copies on E-Bay, very expensive!!! Obviously I mean the book!!!!!!...
I had no idea Stamp-Smarter was for sale and expensive!
So........ been having alot of fun picking up Washington-Franklins at a couple of shows and also HipStamp. I've got about 100 of the 230 (ish) in my Scott National album. The vast majority have been under $10 but I looked at the HipStamp feedback and there were multiple buyers that left feedback mentioning misidentified stamps.
AAAAaaarghh!
Thought I was doing good by working with reputable dealers. I DO NOT want to break out the watermark fluid and perf guage for every .75 stamp. Dang. Can we not count on anyone anymore.
For higher CAT Val items I totally get it. Was hoping to avoid having a ton of misidentifed stamps in my album.
I just counted and over the last 50ish years I've managed to accumulate 203, including a few varieties. I would hate to have to do it all again. Those darn things are enough to drive an almost sane person crazy!!!
You might also try The Expert Book's Washington/Franklin Series 1908-1923 by Paul Schmid. It is a practical guide to the authentication of the 1908-1923 W/F.
In addition to the above mentioned resources, I have found this book of great value.
For me W/F heads are fun, enjoyable.
I hear alot of collectors say there are hard.
It's not so much that they are hard, I just don't have the patience I used to have! Every once in a while I get a new one and checking it over takes longer than it used to! We are all different and that's a good thing! Happy New Year to all!
Tip that I always use on W/F heads, always look at the back side first, this helps alot (for me anyway)
Another tip if the stamp has straight edge(s) turn stamp 90 degrees and examine the edge(s)
Hope this helps.
Also stamp smarter is a basic resource.
See scan for the Martin book.
Both are good resources in there own way.
Stamp-Smarter is one line.
If you active stamp collector for these issues and usages these will really help you I think.
Do any member have other resources for this issue 1908-1921 issues.
Too bad the Martin book isn't on line.
