One or the other, or mint, but I'd have to see an image!

Sorry Bob, just asking a question.
For myself they are used!
Did you mean an unfranked (uncancelled) stamp, is it mint or used, or was it something else entirely?
I think he's asking the general question: "do you prefer used or mint?"
I prefer genuinely postally used when possible. I do not mind revenue cancels for stamps that could be both postal or fiscal, as they as show the stamp served one of its intended purposes. For modern-ish stamps, say post 1953, if I am going to collect them unused they have to be MNH.

I prefer mint, if affordable. In other words it really depends on cost. That's not always true though because, even though it was expensive, I replaced my used Canada Victoria Jubilee series with mint. I really liked the series so I decided to spend the money for it. Most of the older Canada and US material is way too expensive to even consider buying mint. Most of the "newer" US and Canada is mint. With other countries it makes no difference.
I've posted this before but I think it's worth seeing again. In some case I used my used Jubilee stamps, especially to higher denominations, to help with obtaining other stamps I wanted! This series was definitely better to have mint even though many were hinged. At least in my opinion!
Sorry about the glare on some (most!) of the stamps!
Looking at this stamp design, I can't help wondering what Her Majesty thought about the whole of Canada seeing how she'd changed over the years ...
