Definitely!
While there will likely be little monetary difference (maybe from 10c to 25c each) removing the selvage from these common issues would take something attractive and different and relegate it back to something common and indistinguishable from thousands of other copies.

An example! Check the price of stamps from Canada's admiral series that happen to have lathework in the margin. I know that's a special case but I bet lots of examples were destroyed by selvage removers. Those French stamps have wonderful selvage decoration and it should be left there. I know mounting can be a pain but I never remove selvage, even if it's plain.
I notice a couple of them have cancel information in the selvage which could be of some interest.
I ALWAYS choose stamps with selvage over those without, all else being equal.
One other way to think about it is: once you've removed it, you can never replace it. Just sayin'
I rarely remove selvage unless it is plain and in the way for some reason or has a flaw. Stamps like these, I would seek out and leave them as is. Looks like most do the same!
I look at it this way. The older issues typically have 100 stamps in a sheet. 68 of those are without selvage. 8 have top, bottom, right and left selvage while there is only one top left,TR, BL and Bottom right corner making these a bit more expensive.
Before Hingless albums a lot of collectors would remove or bend the selvage to fit their album. This was a real problem for albums that had the stamp
pockets (mounts) imbeded in the album page. So I would never remove them. They also look better with selvage.
We all do things differently. This topic has shown up before and I remember one person saying he/she prefers to remove selvage so all stamps on the page look the same. It's up to the collector of course but I think you are decreasing the interest of the stamp if you do this.
We had a member who collected selvages, year ago.
