Great image. Postcards are definitely cool. They were the text messages of the day. In the early 20th century, as the population grew, moved westward and had more disposable income, postcard use exploded. Sometimes being picked up and/or dropped off 2-3 times a day. Postcards were one of the drivers of the adaptation of the Washington-Franklins. The BEP needed quick and easy design elements to crank out stamps by the BILLIONS to drive postcard demand. I think Postcards are a great area of philately.
Ok, talking 'bout postcards, I found this information provided by the USPS fascinating! Did you realize that the postcard rate didn't hit THREE CENTS until the summer of 1958?????

I collect local (to me) postcards. A friend sent me this image, one to look for in the future. The Gainsborough Hotel was in Hubbards, where the library is now, about 10 minutes away. I have a few postcards showing it but not this one!!!
