The die cuts look irregular. Any chance these could be counterfeit?
Hi Sally
See what you mean, top row of bottom stamp does look uneven. I peeled the backing away which comes away very easily and perfs show as being 8.
Strange thing is that on peeling back the brown/black marking goes all the way through the stamp and is as dark on the reverse. The gum doesn't look great but again this could be a result of long term storage issues. Came to me in a recent lot of kiloware.
When you say that you peeled the backing away, does this mean that they were on their original backing? otherwise they would have needed soaking.
I think that they are probably unused but have been stained with ink or some other substance, and what you are seeing is some kind of ink blot, rather than a cancellation.
HI & Thanks
The stamps peeled very easily as though there was hardly any adhesion at all. Not like a current day S/A issue. I assume it is the original backing as this came like this from a recent purchase of kiloware.
I vaguely remember seeing something like this a long time ago but the memory aint that great that its a clear recollection.
Hi
Has anyone seen cancels like this before? These are on piece.
Thanks for any info.
Stuart
