Hard to say without having the stamp in hand. It could be as you say, or it could be an adhesion of some other paper the stamp was stuck to. Either way, it would be a turn-off for me.
As to being a turn off, I'm not that picky unless the stamp has significant value. In the case of a cheap stamp the difference between prices would be minimal, at least to me. If it is a classic stamp with significant value that's a different story altogether. A thin, if it is one, is significant with respect to value!!
Ernie. Interesting and triggering heading. The other day I stepped on the scales and I was 212 lbs. I was 175 when I got married. My wife accused me of eating too many chicken wings watching the Steelers play every weekend and I'm sure she said I was now a "filled thin".
Glad YOU were referring to stamps...
Dave
Hahaha. Happens to the best of us. Who doesnt like chicken wings? ...and slathered in Bleu cheese dressing? ...and you gotta have a cold one (or a few) with that.
My weight goes up and down. Nothin' a little iron therapy wont fix. Get in the gym Dawg!
This is an image of the back of a stamp that is being offered on a popular auction site. It's from very prolific seller with tens of thousands of transactions and a 99.7% positive rating. However, each auction listing description just says "100% satisfaction guaranteed" a definition of terms i.e. mint, used, etc.
Question(s): What do you make of the circled area here? Looks to me like a thin that might have been filled with correction fluid. But how would it get thinned in the bottom, right corner of the stamp? It seems that thins usually are more top, center, no? The front looks awesome but as I look at stamps that are a little pricier I want to take a pass on ones that have major, noticeable problems.
