Mike... Scott 75a is Michel 89A. The stamp is fiber paper with lacquer stripes. The lacquer strips were to prevent washing of the stamps. This from the Europe Catalog Volume 1 Michel Central Europe.
OK Terry, thanks for that information. I'll have to check them out. That sounds like what the Austrians did with their Varnish stamps.

Unfortunately it´s even more complicated:
There are three different sizes of the varnish bars and two different perforations and another three special perforations
(Friedel-perforations).

Happy Friday everyone,
I need a Michel catalog number for an Austrian stamp, Scott 75a, that is listed with a "small a". This is a pair of stamps or maybe it represents a block of 4 or something else collectors need to know. I looked it up in my want list and saw I needed it, so I bid and won it, but I should have done due diligence since I didn't look it up in Scott's to start with. The only B/4 I can remember are S/S or PB/4, but I have no idea what that "small a" is in this case. Once again I have 6 Michel catalogs, but Austria is not included in any of them. I do have one that starts with "A's", but Austria starts with an "O" in Europe. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Mike
