I'd view it in watermark fluid o see if you can see any variance in the shape of a grille - if not and you want to sell a cert would be nice (there are other methods of detecting pressed grilles)

In order to be expertised as a 114a the stamp must have gum.

That’s interesting. Spray coated with what I wonder? Will that affect the stamp later on?

I have a bunch of used 114s in which the grill does not show to the naked eye. They were probably manipulated to remove grill (e.g., pressed out).

In a perfect world people wouldn't do stuff like this! I wonder sometimes how many stamps I have in my collection that are not what they seem!!
