That's sad. I can name more than I'd like to and I haven't even been on here THAT long. I'm sure there are some that can name many more. I was just thinking about this with the latest passing. We need to enjoy our collecting friends every day we can.

Definitely sad, but I guess a natural product of our demographic. On a related note...
I had huge sales to a member in Australia who would buy anything and everything if it was cheap enough. The only problem was that he would claim he didn't receive more than half of the shipments and I would issue a refund. (A number of SOR members had the same experience).
After cutting him off, he convinced me to re-start with a promise that he would not require compensation for any further "undeliverables" (and sent me a "downpayment" of $10).
So I shipped him 3 big packages with a total value over $80 (not including considerable postage).
I got a notice that he passed away a couple months later (before he could pay me) and have been really hard-pressed to list anything since.
So maybe an extreme case, but perhaps one we will all be encountering going forward.
Sorry but I have to ask. Why would you send $80 worth of stamps on a downpayment of $10 knowing what he/she was like in the past ? Money first, stamps later surely.
I am just curious is all.
I think the best answer is "I'm an idiot". But it was all unsold stuff from many previous auctions/approvals and he said his health was poor and he wanted to have lots of stuff to sort through. So the second best answer is "I was trying to be nice".
Anyway, it was just a story about the vagaries of life and death in this hobby and our demographic.
I am pretty certain some of the membership can relate to this. Ladies and Gentleman who had purchased stamps from me at auction for years and then poof ! they pass on. No need to mention their names but i see them whenever i go through my invoices.
