I just love some of the gettogethers of our local stamp club. One of our more colourful members brought this stamp and asked if anyone knew what it is. I fell into his trap and said I thought it was a fiscally used copy of Bahamas B1 which resulted in his famous pitying "boy are you stupid look". I was told that I had obviously missed 2 key items: the fact that it was specially printed for the Red Cross and the E.R.P. which stood for Expedited Red Cross Parcel. Therefore, this stamp was used for mailing Red Cross parcels in an emergency. I had no comment.

Another member said that was wrong, that E.R.P. stood for the European Recovery Program which was part of the Marshall Plan. When I pointed out that the Marshall Plan was implemented after WWII and the cancel was dated 1917, I again got "the look".

I should point out that although I have been an avid stamp collector for well over 65 years, I have only been a member of our local club for 5 or 6 years - a Newbie.

So the bottom line is I am pretty sure that E.R.B. is a fiscal cancel. However, could one of our more leaned members please inform me as to the meaning of the letters?

I should also point out that whilst our meetings are sometimes not altogether informative, they are NEVER DULL.

Possibly a connection to Exuma regional/rural Post Office. Have not found anything positive on the net.

In my working years, ERP was the software system for managing the supply chains of manufacturing companies. Stood for Enterprise Resource Planning. It included capacity management, purchasing and shop scheduling.

It is totally irrelevant to this discussion--just wanted to yank your chain--ha.

I see that listing was visited 14 times in the last 24 hours and I wonder how many of them were from SOR members, like me?
