I don't think so....if you look closely you can see where the fibers have a frayed aspect from being torn apart. Reperforated usually have a cleaner cut appearance as from a sharp blade.
Thanks Ernie - they just look more "rounded" to me as opposed to the other 3 sides. Still learning.
I don't thinks so either. Just an opinion, but the left side looks as it has been torn.
It is not reperfed at left. At right seems more likely.
Thank you - why I don't play with expensive stamps.
I am either not very bright or very accepting! That stamp looks great to me, I guess I have a lot to learn. Probably most of us have items in our collections that are not quite right and we really have no idea. I'm not questioning the opinions expressed here, I just don't see what you people are seeing.
Hi Harvey,
I don't think figuring these things out has to do with intelligence, but rather having a more practiced eye. Here is a close-up of the right side perforations.
Normally produced stamps should have the same size and shape of perforations down the side.
Either there was an attempt to reperf the stamp or repair the perfs.
Thanks - this is what makes SOR so great. And todays scanners and the ability to enhance things certainly help - Carol always had trouble with the old "Is the cancel on top of the overprint or vice-versa" question. Scanners leave no doubt, mostly. Especially helpful on early GB stamps. Just have to make certain that both overprint and cancel aren't forged (I learned that on an early issue from Iceland I submitted through Jay Smith). And the learning continues.
Amazing picture and thanks for showing but it's something I just don't think of looking for. I will from now on but I've probably missed some reperfed stuff over the last 50+ years,
Just trying to get the hang of it - thanks. Lousy pix - copied from a listing.
