Covers of this size are often referred to as "lady's covers". Petite covers sent from one lady to another. What you you have is an unusually well embellished lady's cover.
Very nice cover! I grew up on the "Illinois side" of Wal(l)worth County, Wisconsin, in Woodstock, just south of Lake Geneva (previously simply called "Geneva"). Great area with an interesting history!
Thanks. Any idea what the glossy, slippery material and/or process used to apply it is?
It measures @ 2-1/2 X 4.Although it doesn't show well it has an over-all high gloss coating which is atop the heavily embossed silver filigree on back. It has been slit open at the right as it appears it would be impossible to open the flap. Not sure if my camera would capture the gloss or not and it is a pain to set up but if no one comes up with an answer I'll try taking a pix with some side lighting - It is very glossy and smooth. The inside of the paper also feels coated with something but more in a matte finish.
Thank you
