My word !!!! Tomorrow was a long time ago.
Here are a few weird bits from London 2010, A Festival of Stamps. It was long ago, but I remember every second of the most amazing stamp festival there ever was.
(I do not lie)

Above: Entrance programme for the Philatelic bourse held at the iconic Horticultural Halls. In my opinion, the best UK venue for a Philatelic Event, but sadly no longer used for such.
Below: First Day Entrance ticket to the International Exhibition held at the Business Design Centre. It cost most folk a whopping £10 to get one. Luckily, i was given an advance 'freebie' !!

Below is the special and very limited invitation to have a fancy Afternoon tea at the Royal Philatelic Society, then in Devonshire Place. Been many times since, but this was my first visit !
Cake Stands, Tea Pots and sandwiches without crusts !! I sat opposite the Gibbons catalogue Editor and we had a good discussion about it !!!

Sorry for the delay !!
Here are a few Postcards issued for the event. Some came in scarce limited edition packs.

Royal Mail produced a Cinderella item for the Festival of Stamps. Printed in Holland by Enschede, the stamps were a reproduction of the GB 1929 UPU £1 stamp in a block of 4.
It was offered to customers in a special Presentation Pack.
I'll just show the block !

The two sheets below are the regular formats of those 'cut' from the Press sheets as shown in the first post.
The top one issued by the Post Office was available as all regular stamps plus outlets at the various events around London and beyond.
The other sheet was a limited Edition and was available only at the main International Exhibition at the BDC in May. The overprint for the event is in the top right corner of the Miniature sheet. 2010 copies were available to the public and sold out before the end of the week. (from most outlets !!)

This might be a long thread !
But it was an outstanding Festival, one that will never be repeated. It was a week that will live long in my memory, a week of fun, surprises, friends......and stamps.
It wasn't my intention to collect or buy much. Just some Cinderellas and the odd other. But after just a few hours, all my plans went out of the window !!
And so on my shelf today, as a reminder of a special week in my life, sit two albums of stamps, cards, ephemera and other bits. I look at them often. I smile. But I won't add all those items missing, where would be the fun in that !?
But let's start with an item that is not in the albums. Oh yes, there are some of those too, didn't I mention it ?
The first item was large. and there were two of them. They were Press sheets of a Miniature sheet Royal Mail had issued for the event. I had taken orders from some 'stamp buddies' to buy one (or more) to break down into very unusual pairs or blocks.
So, the images below are just that. An introduction to a Festival of Stamps, a week to remember forever.
London 2010, A Festival of Stamps.
As far as I know, this is the first time that Miniature sheets have been presented and offered Tete-Beche. It was a great opportunity. And I still have a full sheet languishing in my bedroom cupboard !! Collectors eh ! Who would have 'em !
Below are items I carefully cut from the sheet to fill requests. It was nail-biting but also exciting. I had to do it on the floor too !!!!!

Just look at all those colours bars, spacers, size bars and all. It gives me the shivers just looking at them !
And this is only the beginning. We haven't got to the Guildhall yet !
More tomorrow....can you wait that long ?
