I have a Spain Airmail Scott # C37 1930 30cts w/ "Muestra" overprint in red.
No mention of it in my 2011 Scott catalog. Looking up "Muestra" gives me "Sample".
I'm wondering if any Spain Specialized catalogs can shed some light on this.
I'm putting it in my album along with the regular C37 just for added interest.
Any input is appreciated.

Hi David, "muestra" also translates as "specimen".

These specimen stamps were sent to other countries in the upu to allow for proper identification. I have a couple Spanish air mails with the muestra overprint.

They also did this in Germany several years ago. These stamps with the word "MUSTER" would be sent to newspspers and Philatelic Media.
These were sent as a sample and therefore could not be used.
