David,
I have a collection of about 6000 US postal seals and about 300 covers with US postal seals. I also have a number of international postal seals. And I also have a large collection of Registry Seal and envelopes. If you have a specific question(s) I am willing to give an opinion.
Please post your question(s), post what discovery you have done, and post clear scans. Please note that I am not willing to play guessing games on posts with missing information or debate new 'discoveries' that you think that you have made. Postal seals were held in even less regard than revenues stamps, they were single use and not meant to be used by the public. And other than the first few issues, were printed by third party companies who bid the lowest and no one cared about small running changes or the quality of the printing. As such, they are huge numbers of 'varieties' and are on virtually no one's radar.

I have no questions as such.
I don't collect these!
I don't actively seek them out, but I do save them if they come my way.
I believe I have a dozen or so.
No.
Do you collect these seals?
I have a few on cover and a beginner collection off-cover.
i collect these as part of my RTS and damaged mail collection, but not in their own rights. Still, they can make an envelope far more alluring.
Don, thanks for the history lesson; I had no idea of nearly all you wrote, and am glad to know it now.
