To post a link all you need to do is highlight the address shown in your browser window and click ctrl c, then use ctrl v to paste into message.
To make the link active in your post, highlight again and click the link button under the message window .

You can also embed the video but I'll not complicate matters.

In my opinion SOR should be encouraging the posting of embedded YouTube videos, not links or instruction to links.
The reason is simple, once people leave to YouTube it is common for them to not return. YouTube has spent millions designing the pages to retain visitors and it works (based upon metrics). Once a person has gone to the YouTube they stay there and watch other videos.
This is why the forum code supports embedding YouTube and why we should post YouTube using the embedded feature.
