Hi Mike,
It's 2698 issued in 2000. It's part of A2090k (picture number lower left stamp).

This is a stamp from a series of stamp sheets Japan issued to commemorate the events of the 20th century.
I believe it is Scott #2698i, and was issued 7/21/2000. (When 80 yen paid the ordinary domestic 1st-class rate.)

WOW, you were all quick with this answer. Thank you very much. I should have known better than to find something with a year date on it, listed in the year showing. I have seen a lot of those issues commemorating the century but they never came to mind.

This mystery Japan stamp from the 1964 Tokyo Olympics has been driving up a tree for a while and just knew someone on SOR has the information on this very elusive stamp, (for me anyway). The only thing I have found similar to this issue is on a Maxicard from Japan showing the stamp, but have not found the stamp anywhere I have looked.
