#51 - Umber Brown #52 - Violet Brown According to Unitrade the reissue is usually brighter. My two look like your two, the second one is darker and appears to have a little bit of violet in it, I think!! Let's put it this way, if your two are not #51 and #52 then mine aren't either. The colour difference is quite subtle but the second one is darker, as mine is as well!

I think you would have the best results in the ''Canada'' section.
Yours are both #51
Here is a 52 offered by a major Canadian dealer, with a Vincent Graves Greene Foundation certificate
and yours (cropped)
Admittedly, they are from two different scans, but the difference is very obvious. There is no violet in either of your copies, and shades still exist within a particular catalogue number. Remember #51 was used for 9 years before #52 was issued.

CDJ....you are certainly correct. I'll see if there are any more responses here. If none, I will post there. Is there Amy way a moderator could move it intact to Canada section? I apologize for the inconvenience.
Roy, great post! I'm not sure if I can see any violet in mine either. I will probably have to chase down an actual #52 myself!! Bah, humbug!!!
EDIT: I'm travelling to see my local stamp dealer on Thursday to pick up a few items a bit bothersome to ship (crystal black mounts, a book on Canada Revenues and three large books of US precancels) and I'll have a look to see what he has available for Newfoundland #52. After comparing mine to the one Roy posted I really have my doubts!! I think both John and I have 51 (umber brown) and 51a (brown) which are both fairly cheap compared to #52!
Do I have to return the new BMW?
I hate it when this happens! Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
