Congratulations Phil!
Congratulations Phil. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Congrats, Phil.
Welcome to the club!
Angore, Thank you...i was wondering.
i'm guessing your hundredth will be a couple pounds then, no?
I assumed the date on the bottom was his birthday, he won't be around for the 100th!!
Harvey, were that his birthday, he'd already have passed the 100th and be well into Dorian Grey territory
He looks fabulous for all of his 82 years, BTW
Congratulations Phil
David, you are shorting me again...i am 84 01/01/1939. Yeah, i guess when i join something i tend to stick. So i guess i am not alone here..be interesting to see how many 50 yr folks we have.
Thanks Doug,Mike et all..Harvey i am putting you on the back burner for now...i will deal with you at my leisure when one of your posts pops up !
Wear it with pride Phil, wear it with pride.
Thank You Michael !
Congrats. If I’d known there were medals involved I would have joined sooner.
Who knows when you join ? Its just to be a part of something you enjoy...the dues were $8.00 a year and the American Philatelist was a small sepia colored magazine...no resemblance to what it is now. There was no internet...you could order a box of 10 or 12 approval books through the mail.
Congratulations, Phil. Next year will be my 20th year of APS membership... and you sponsored me!

36 year member here and just enough younger that your age gives me hope.
Congratulations, Phil !
I think Vinman should post a pic of his 25-Year pin, since he just received it at the APS meeting in Cleveland's G.A.S.S. show!
How about it, Vince??
Lets see it, then possibly i can find mine, has to be in X number of boxes.
Wow. An outstanding accomplishment.
Congratulations, Phil. Doesn't the 50 years medal also include a life membership?
DonSellos
DonSellos, Thanks for asking...i received my Life Membership in 2004 ..the conditions were being a member 30 years and being at least 65 years of age.
"... the conditions were being a member 30 years and being at least 65 years of age. "
Don, if you get the APS magazine its easy enough to find someone to ask. Sounds like you are eligible.
I qualified for life membership under the old rules by being 65 years but had 50 years membership. In the early 70's after I joined, they changed the automatic life membership rules. From what I recall, almost all those qualified for automatic life have met that level. They reach out to you if you were eligible.
Nice, for some reason i never received one like that.
I got mine today, 1973 - 2023.I wanted to go to Cleveland this year and collect it in person but for now its good. I'm keeping mine in the original case and plan to place it in a holder on my desk.
Great , You and i are about in the same time frame. I Joinned a local Stamp Club (am still a member and joinned APS same year.)
"Phil:
Interesting! I've not heard of that provision. I reached my 30th year of membership in 2011 and was well past 65 then and no offer of life membership. Shucks. Probably changed the rule.
Don"
I don't remember my 25 year one..but this baby is heavy !
