Retro Reveal was fantastic, and it's now-limited access is a shame. It's been discussed here before, but Image Sleuth is what you need

@DaveSheridan
Image Sleuth is of very limited use for me, I use it but just does not compare.

@clivel
I don't know why, but I got better results with Retro Reveal (RR) then I get on Image Sleuth (IS).
With RR I could sometimes see the watermarks, never seen one on IS?
I research cancels on revenue stamps, RR would return better images than IS.
IS is good, I use it, but I do miss RR.
Hope you can fix it so IS works better than RR (but I'm not holding my breath!)

I implemented all RetroReveal colourspace transforms as listed here http://web.archive.org/web/2022040905491 ...
I believe that I have implemented them correctly. However without a live RetroReveal site to compare them to, I cannot be 100% sure.
If you have any images that you submitted to RetroReveal, along with some of the results I would love to run them through ImageSleuth for comparison.

@clivel
I do not save images as such. Once I have researched the cancel and run it thru just to make sure, then deleted, as there is no value in keeping images.

I use Imagesleuth a lot and find it excellent.
I echo anglobob's comments.
I miss having Retro Reveal, too bad it's only available on a very limited basis. As I understand it, you must be enrolled in the University of Utah to be able to use it (correct me if I'm wrong).
Retro Reveal was a tool I used to help with faded cancels and what not. In addition watermarks were detectable using it.
What other ways could it be used for stamp collectors for right and proper uses?
