@Harvey
Very nice example, I think you got a good deal!

Thanks 1898! I really like this odd stuff and it looks great in a collection.
Very nice, I seldom see these issues and for this reason have never attempted to complete the various gutter pairs and blocks listed in one of my albums.
I did once see full sheets of a couple of issues which brought home just how complicated it could be to find all of the permutations for these issues!
Jerrel, that's exactly why I got into these items. My Harris Liberty album showed a few pages of this stuff and IMHO if a page is there it is there to be filled! And things just sort of took off from there! Now the backs of those pages are almost filled as well! I know that the people who print their own pages don't understand this. If there's a stamp they can't find or afford they print a new page leaving it out. To me I enjoy the act of filling a page and even if there is a space that will never be filled, it's fine, because I can at least see the whole series. The Liberty album does leave out many of the unattainable items but my Harris Canada album puts in everything, even the #32 which when the album was published there were only two known examples. I'm missing 9 items in the non-BOB part of the album, I could make it complete if I were to print pages with them not there!! Where's the fun in that??
I will admit that I don't understand omitting issues on purpose with do it yourself albums. It does take much of the challenge out of the completion. However, I am not concerned about pre-printed albums missing stamps either due to targeting representative collections, for example, the International albums after the "brown" albums. I do wish that some of the older albums such as the Stanley Gibbons New Imperial were still available as new albums.
I keep thinking about creating a "classic" album similar to the Lallier albums with spaces for all of the face different stamps up to 1870 or so and have been very slowly creating a list of such stamps that would be desirable for inclusion. So far I am up to 1850 and have 54 stamps picked including a few USA issues from the mid-1850's. Given my penchant for mint stamps, actually completing it is a likely impossible task but it is fun to contemplate. Going up to 1880 so that the album might actually have some achievable content might be a good thing!
Good luck with your search for the various gutter options! They are definitely an interesting challenge.
Not everyone's cup of tea but I'm really starting to like these odd pieces of fluff from the Farley time period. I paid $21 for this "perforated center cross gutter block". Some of you probably think I paid too much but I like it, and that's really all that matters. I have many odd pieces of this stuff and it makes a rather interesting collection. This is my sixth cross gutter center block!! Feel free to make any comments about why someone would want to collect garbage like this!!! I know there's at least one person who will!
