@Harvey
Sorry you guess is not even close. you can try as many times as you want to.

I was just re-looking at the stamp, realized I was wrong and deleted my answer. I should have left it but I didn't want you to see how wrong I was - sorry!! There is no way it was #154 since that has the fancy script!! From what Scott's specialized shows #153 has either rectangular or square periods and sometimes the tail of the R is curved. The picture they show has the square period with the curvy tailed R but I'm not sure if that's always the case or not. So unless it's a fake because the R doesn't have a curvy tail you have me stumped. The version of 153 I have has a rectangular dot and no tail on the R. So if I had to make a guess I'd say that if it has a square dot the tail of the R should have a curve on the end. Of course the overprint is inverted as well, but that's obvious and Scott's doesn't mention an inverted overprint for R153 which is also a bit suspicious!
EDIT: While I was on this page of the catalog on the opposite page they had pictures of R132 and R133 which have to be two of the most beautiful stamps I have ever seen. I'd love to have either one but well out of my normal price range unless a damaged one shows up somewhere. It's also a bit odd that these stamps were printed in sheets of 1, I wonder what the sheets looked like! Have you ever seen an actual copy of either the $200 or $500 stamps? The highest value I have in that set is the $10!
@Harvey
I did see the posting you deleted!
The over print on this postage stamp is not an inverted error (I know it looks inverted but it is not).
Keep guessing, you are sort of getting close to the answer!

You have me stumped, I've given it my best shot!! The overprint is sort of inverted but not really!! It's sort of an inverted mirror image which makes it almost look like an off set rather than an invert for the overprint - very odd indeed!! Sort of like an inverted offset, if that's possible!!
Check out my edit on the last post. I'm curious if you've ever seen the $200 or $500 face value stamps.
@Harvey
Ok you give up (but you were sort of getting close).
I also do not have either R132 or R133, way out of my means.
You said the highest face value stamp you have is $10.00, there are many higher face value (mostly revenue stamps) stamps out there, attached is some from my dust bin collection (that's what I call it) , all with faults. As such cheap to obtain.

"The highest value I have in that set is the $10!"
@Harvey
I misread it, my bad.

No problem! That green and red stamp you have looks like #R102, another very beautiful stamp. It lists in my Scott's for $2750 imperf and about $1000 perfed. I know value isn't important but that's a very difficult stamp to find and I doubt if they made many of them. You should check out these links, the first one shows what a sheet of #R133 looks like and the second is for #R102.

Thank you, very interesting.

Any more willing to try?
On the subject line there is a clue.

Are you stating is a fiscal stamp and not a postage stamp?
@angore
No
@vinman
Sorry wrong answer.
I've already posted the back see "I have no Idea on this one, Need the SOR Experts to Identify it?" located at General Philatelic - Identify This?

@Everyone
Harvey came very close to the answer.
First off the "I.R." overprint is not inverted! It was by design.
The stamp is a 279 with a counterfeit overprint.
R153 does not exist with an inverted overprint.
This overprint on the counterfeit is too big in both directions!
Mr. Ice (that was his name) give me this stamp many years ago. He explained he could not sell it to me as at the time it was illegal to do so, but because I had a large interest in the 1898 Series Revenue Stamps and related issues he gave it to me. Mr. Ice only dealt in Revenue Stamps.

Send me your what you think is wrong, after I have received a few I'll post what's wrong with this postage stamp.
Hint, it's not the pulled perf!
