I think you have two different companies in your name:
Pacific Express Company
United States Express Company
PACIFIC EXPRESS
1879-1911 or 1913
Regional private mail and package express company operating primarily west of the Mississippi
Formed from the Kansas Pacific and Union Pacific Express Companies and developed a strong business liaison with the United States Express Company to provide trans-continental express service.
Liquidated late in 1911 when Wells Fargo & Co. took over its remaining express routes?
-- OR --
Bought 1914 by American Express as a result of 1913 Parcel Post Law.
UNITED STATES EXPRESS COMPANY
started 1854
ceased operation 1914 due to Parcel Post Law
https://www.midcontinent.org/rollingstoc ...
These are railroad parcel subsidiary companies that facilitated transport by rail of parcels across the nation in the 19th and very early 20th centuries. They are predessors of what later became the Railroad Express Agency.

The above words were found on a revenue stamp!
I have all the information you provided already, was looking for specific to the words in the subject line!
Thanks
Let me try this again.
The words on the subject line are on a revenue stamp and I'm helping a friend to locate any factual background information on this company, does any other member have this information?
I don't own this stamp so I can't show you the stamp with cancel involved.
If you need to see the stamp and cancel in question see the website "1898Revenues" and search in the usual way for "Cancel for April 19: U. S and Pacific Express Company"
Please stay on topic.

@mbo1142
I'd seen this site before, it does not mention the company in question!
Thanks anyway

I just tried it myself and it went directly to it, I don't know what happened when you tried it, again sorry it did not work for you!
I could not post the image as I was waiting for permission from the website owner, in fact I'm still waiting, but you must have gotten permision faster than I did (I'm still waiting) good job!

Perhaps it's time to get back on topic!
Posting the actual image of the stamp cancel really does nothing for the background information!
I found a partial reference, but as you can see it refers to just one company and not two as was suggested. Suggesting it was two companies really did not make much sense!
This offers an audit trail for more back ground information, but its late night and I worked hard today, will pick up the audit trail sometime Monday!
Who and why was the scan of the cancel removed?
I still have not received permission from the website owner to post a scan of the stamp and cancel in question.
The subject line has all the words on the cancel, why not just read the subject line???
@1898
The reference in your posting of 21 May 2023 10:46:33pm indicates that there were two separate "companies". In my opinion, your query may have been answered by @michal78651's post of 19 May 12023 09:34:02pm. The creation of the Pacific Express Company included "a strong business liaison with the United States Express Company", and that may be the source of the issued revenue stamp cancel.
@Terry
Good morning.
There was only one company, suggest you read the subject line which contains all the words on the cancel!
I was looking for background information on this company.
Do you have any background information for this one company?
Thanks
Our suggestion is that the cancel did not represent a single company, but rather indicated the strong liaison between the two companies. I refer you again to the "Partial reference" that you quoted back on May 21st ...
"three of which he served as route agent for the Untied States and Pacific Express Companies"
That is "Companies" = plural. Two separate companies...
Just our 2 cents worth.
I deleted my posts because they seemed not to be helpful in your query.

Thank you!
I'm looking for background information on this above named company.
All I know is the name of this company, and that it was in businessn in 1899, maybe longer?
