Could possibly be the Commercial Union, an insurance company.
Sheepshanks is correct. The Commercial Union Assurance Company.
The CU Perfin was used from the George VI Light Colours through to the QEII Wildings.
From the George V Typograph issues to the George VI Dark Colours the Perfin used by Commercial Union was C.U
Thanks Ian, you also corrected me in that it was assurance not insurance. I should have remembered as I sold General Accident policies and they merged with CU back in 1998. They are now part of Aviva group.
Vic,
Sorry, I was not being pedantic.
I have a GB Perfin catalogue and was just transposing the info from it.
As an Ex "Insurance" man you might enjoy this:- Its called "Insurance, The White Man's Burden"

Ian I was not thinking of you being pedantic, and I'm not sure I recall that particular Goon show episode, probably did listen to it at the time of broadcast, it was a regular tune in show.
The closed captioning is quite amusing in the interpretation of the spoken words.
Thanks for that.
Thank you, guys. I continue to be amazed that there's always someone(s) with an answer!
I'm putting this homely stamp -- face down, of course -- on the same page as my other GVI's, with a note about the CU holes.
Ugly, cancelled-to-heck George VI on front, but a "CU" perfin on the back that I can't find in any the online catalogs.
Any guesses?
