Aye a scan of the subject would be most helpful.
If there are no phosphor bands it could well be a stamp that has been in the sun too long or been dipped in some chemical while being soaked off the letter.
Using SG colors. 13p was available in two colors.
Pale chestnut - printed in gravure (MH83) and litho (MH84), has phosphor bars (2B, LB, RB) . One had a back print. Scott does not list phosphor issues.
Light gray - gravure only, phosphor coated paper (no bars). Should be Scott MH82
I am not near my Scott Catalog
Thank you to all who responded. SOR is a great forum.
Appreciate the tip re the "adminware" Machin website. Its a great resource, and one I have consulted in the past.
Although my stamp appears to be in good condition, conclude it is a changeling. But still a keeper!
This is a screenshot of Adminware free pages. I added the 13½pv value using Royal Mail colors (Deegam and Adminware)
Here is my page of the 13p Machin, maybe it will help.
Thank you for the addtl posting, Mr. Gore.
Have requested SOR image scanning/posting training from a Gen Y family member. Will see how it goes.
Am having trouble identifying a Machin stamp.
Its 13 p, 15 x 14 perf. Color is very similar to Scott MH 94 (fawn).
Have examples of Scott MH 83 and MH 84 (both 13 p). Both lt red brown. And the color of my 13 p is very different than Sc MH 83 or 84.
Am thinking my stamp could be one of the versions of SG "pale chestnut". Although cannot see any phosphor bands (right, left, or center).
Am hoping one of the Machin experts will weigh in.
Thanks in advance.
