For the Netherlands Indies stamps of design types that Scott warns of water soluble ink, how complete (or incomplete) is Scott? I just sorted through an envelope full of Netherlands Indies stamps - I normally soak used stamps to remove hinge and gum residue if needed. I want to make sure I do not soak ones if Scott missed any.

Thanks,
Josh

re: Netherlands Indies water soluble ink

this can be a problem if you move too fast.
i would look through the group and seek the least potential value, most scrunched cancel, and otherwise damaged.
then i award that thing a ''hero of the republic badge'' and use it s the test dummy..
a light tepid bath and quick removal for clean drying.
the answer should be come obvious and the loss if any minimal.
to go further would involve lightly dampening the back of a facedown stamp with a q-tip.
a damp hinge should be workable, but one never knows what form of glutinuous mi*ture someone may have applied so this is only for the stout hearted if the stamps seem that worthwhile.
some years ago i was able to get some paper scraps and half torn hinges from some EVII issues successfully, but i could see well then. i believe one or two were ruined but the others are still in the album, and looked okay.
