Ah, The Philippines is a wonderful country to visit. People are great, and so is the food.
I have never been there but I do know people who come from over there and they really know how to cook.
From the stories i know they also eat things that we consider somewhere between unusual and disgusting...
Unusual, for sure, like Balut. I won't touch that. I didn't see anything disgusting, but every place has items on the menu that are disgusting to others.
Yeah, Balut was actually what I meant. I have no desire of eating that either!
My fiancee wanted to buy me balut. I declined. I already knew what it was. She bought one for herself. I saw it as she opened it up, and she ate it. No way will I try that unless I'm totally drunk out of my mind.
For those who don't know what balut is.... It is a duck egg with a duck fetus inside. You can get 3 month, or 6 month eggs. They are boiled like you'd boil any egg. It is said that the juice tastes like chicken soup, and the duck fetus tastes like roasted duck. But you eat the fetus, feathers and all. The fetus is not that well developed at 3 months, but thank you, but no.
I have started a random voyage along Asian countries for which I have made new approval books.
One can already visit Thailand, Sri Lanka / Ceylon and the Philippines.
Still coming up: a combination of Burma, Nepal and Bangladesh, as well as books on India, Iran, Indonesia and Korea.
So if you are interested in one or more of these countries, please check in as often as you can!
