A fellow collector in the area sent me these pictures. For some reason this common KGV issue appears to have a strange watermark. The letters in the watermark are double lined "O S".Could this be part of the paper makers watermark? Or is it something else?

Thanks for any info!

George

This issue is known on unwatermarked paper, so could possibly be printers paper marking.
If anyone has a GB specialist catalogue maybe they can give a more correct answer.

This is part of a "POSTAGE" marginal watermark.

Here's a nice example of a mint strip currently on sale online:

Thanks Nigel, mystery solved, although quite why they were printed in the margin paper is strange. Unless they were fed into the press wrongly.

Nigel and sheepshanks,

Thank you! SOR is the best place to find answers to questions we have! Although the original stamp is not mine, I might like to find that strip and add it to my collection of strange philatelic things!
