I believe this was a trial run in 2016. Can anyone comment on this, provide more information or even a scan of a cover with such a cancel ?

Instead of precancelled stamps or postage meters as postage the Royal Mail issued a postage block known as an Indicia Stamp. Can anyone add to this with information as time frame or even a sample cover ?

Stamp indicia are designed to increase response rates for customer as recipients see the stamp image as a more personal form of postage when compared to PPI (Postage Paid Impression). Customers have the choice of six stamp images: 1st Class Definitive letter. 1st Class Definitive large letter.

Prior to the release of the bar coded digital stamps I read that the Royal mail made use of a digital cancel
