Ok, here are a few from my "Sold database":
1862 missent to Philipsburg UC (Upper Canada i.e. Ontario) instead of Phillipsville UC
manuscript missent marking
Roy
I've picked up a few here and there;
How about this one - missent to a beer company!
Or this large rather raggedy-looking but interesting one;
But my favorite one so far is this one, which I've posted on these boards some years back -
everything about it makes me laugh!
Sent to a MINISTER, who lives in BRETHREN, MI, but missent to Climax!
You just can't make this stuff up!
And to top it off, the year slug in the cancel is upside down....an honest mistake I suppose for the year 1961 which reads the same way upside down!
the Climax cover's year slug essentially looks the same up or down. I love those.
I thought I would continue Phil's exploration of interesting covers by showing covers that were missent.
I will start with my favorite missent cover because of the bright blue cancel/marking. This cover was addressed to Clarkesville, but was missent to Charlotteville in Virginia.
I really like the font of this missent item. Like the previous cover the reason it was missent was because of the similarity of the town names, in this case it was sent to Lawrence, Kansas instead of St. Lawrence, South Dakota.
I think this missending was done as a result of placing the cover in an adjacent bin by mistake. Shafer and Taylors Falls are in the same county and thus not very far from each other.
This is a more local missent cover. Taylors falls is about an hour north of the twin cities right on the St. Croix river.
