Reduce the image size to 800 wide - it will work
This is the image Cheryl wanted to post. It was in a .pdf and I just scraped out the image part. Stamp images cut-off at the bottom as in the .pdf file.
Closer look at the images:
You have to be a bit careful since facsimiles of these stamps exist. I don't think they were very well done but you should certainly try to find out about them. The only one I have is a facsimile of #3 and it is a very poor copy of the stamp.
@ccg
I assume you are talking about stamps 1861-1865 and not just 1862?
No just the ones in the photocopy..Can you post pictures of the stamps from 63 to 65?
Harvey is quite right. What you have are facsimiles, not originals. That said, they are fine for inclusion to show the series while you work very hard to actually get hold of some originals. Usually the originals will not be perfect, have corners off, will be poor examples compared to the rest of your collection, but still fun to get hold of. The clues will be the quality of the paper and the depth of the color and the picture. The originals kind of "pop out" at you, compared to the facsimiles which appear as muted/faded.
Best,
Dan C.
Thankyou Dan I thought so....
I was pleased to add a Confederate stamp to my collection a few years ago.
Very nice collection. I'm wary of getting anything that could be a forgery or facsimile.
Only get high values from my trusted dealer of 25 years.

Instead of showing the scans, just provide the cat. numbers, for all your 13 plus 1 of the confederate stamps issued in 1862!

She's looking for value, I have a cat., but do not know for sure which stamps she has.
The stamps that I have are shown above . I am not sure what you are questioning
My question to you via message was to scan and show what you believe to be later issues
. As for value they are the Springfield Facsimiles . Thank you Roy for your information.
As for value I truly don`t know but will certainly be checking the information supplied by Roy.
There is a set currently on ebay selling for 25$ US. To me they are a nice addition to my US collection
and not for sale.
Cheryl
ps The set was the creation of Howard MacIntosh of Tatham Stamps & Coin Co. 1934 If anyone can add more info please do...Thankyou
I just located an article from Linns of Nov 19th 2019 which stated that the Tatham Stamp Co. was a well known mail order house between 1930-1960. They produced educational booklets to show the stamp recognition and history . They also produced Christmas seals between 1927-1950.
Plus the Confederacy never issued a yellow one cent stamp.
Cheryl,
Nice topic. I have a whole bunch of these reproductions, not all of them from Tatham Stamp & Coin I am sure. I also have part of the Confederate Educational booklet.
The Tatham Stamp & Coin Company produced some very nice Cinderella stamps, many of them to advertise their business.

So sorry I could not help you to determine what the value of your stamps were. I know nothing about fake stamps in addition I do not collect Confederate stamps or know any thing about them. Of course at the start of your original posting it was unknown they were faked!
Have the cat. numbers would have been a big help!
Good luck in your future stamp collecting!
I am sorry that I could not provide the catalogue numbers for you Not everyone uses Scott and since I am not a serious collector I do not have a recent catalogue I am more in to postal history and the story behind the stamps.
With the help of another member, Dan posted the scans for me and this led to a lot of history being shared Roy was a great help and this led to me discovering the Tatham Stamp Company . Another member has added more history this morning.
Stamporama is made up an amazing group of philatelic folks who share their knowledge and wisdom . I am so blessed to learn from them
