re: I came across these in a bulk lot does anyone know anything about them?

I've got a set of the five Thule stamps (not the sheet, just the five stamps) which I bought from a dealer in about 1982 at the Sunday morning market under the arches of Hungerford bridge here in London. Thule was a trading station established by the explorer Knud Rasmussen in the early years of the century (presumably 1910). He first went to Greenland in 1902-4, and subsequently made for or five journeys across northern Greenland between 1912 and 1933. The Thule stamps were issued in 1935/6 to recognise the 25th anniversary of Thule mail. Greenland's mail was organised by the Greenland Administration office in Copenhagen, and for any mail adressed outside Copenhagen, Danish stamps had to be added.

They're listed in Facit 2007, but not in my 2008 Gibbons.

I think there's now a big US airbase at Thule - not sure if Rasmussen's original settlement still survives.
